Frequently asked questionsQ1 What is Mainline track power system?A1 The Mainline Power Track System is a unique low voltage power distribution system which enables the end user to add remove and reposition their power outlets (power points) as and when they require, in complete safety and without the need to engage the services of an electrician. Q2 Who can fit a Mainline adaptor?A2 Anyone can fit, remove or reposition an adaptor as and when required. Q3 Does Mainline conform to any Test Specifications or Safety Standards?A3 Yes. See Product Specifications. Q4 How many Mainline Adaptors can be fitted to the Mainline track at the one time?A4 The number of Adaptors used at one time is dependent on the total load current consumed at a point in time rather than the number of adaptors connected to the track. The maximum load on the system is controlled by the MCB (Circuit Breaker) which is installed as part of the fixed wiring. The size of the circuit breaker used on a particular circuit will vary from country to country in accordance with the local wiring rules which apply to that country. In practice the dimensions of the Mainline adaptors enable up to 16 to be accommodated on a metre length of track. Q5 Does Mainline carry data?A5 Mainline is primarily a power distribution system. In normal commercial environments Data would normally be distributed by commercial ducting which can accommodate the Mainline Power system. Q6 Can the adaptor be moved?A6 Yes. The adaptor is designed to be fitted anywhere along the length of track. Remove the adaptor from one position, and relocate it to another. Q7 Can Mainline be painted so as to blend into its surroundings?A7 Yes Mainline can be painted with regular house paint and depending upon the paint used, priming may be required. Additionally the Mainline Track accepts a multiple of after market finishes. The availability of these aftermarket finishes may vary from country to country. Q8 Who can install Mainline?A8 Mainline must be installed in accordance with the local wiring rule and should be installed by a suitably qualified person. Please consult the local wiring rules applicable to your area for further information. Q9 What is the rated current for the track and adaptor?A9 Mainline is rated to 32 Amps for continuous operation. The adaptors are rated from 2.5A to 16A (depending upon their configuration) in accordance with the standards and requirements of each country. Q10 Can the Adaptor slide along the track?A10 Yes, the adaptors have been designed so as to allow them to slide along the track – without causing any damage - in the event that they inadvertently knocked or bumped. However in practice to move an adaptor it is highly recommended and far easier to just twist the adaptor to disengage it from the track and re-engage it in the new location. |
